Banking computers include large mainframe computers–which are often large enough to fill entire rooms–to smaller, hand-held personal digital assistants.

A large bank with numerous branches may have a mainframe computer in its central headquarters and linking terminals located in each of its branches. One of the greatest advantages of a mainframe computer for the banking sector is its ability to perform time-sharing. Time-sharing allows multiple users to access the same computer simultaneously.

Uses and abuses of Social Media

Social media refers to websites and applications that are designed to allow people to share content quickly, efficiently, and in real time. Many people define social media as apps on their smartphones or tablet, but the truth is, this communication tool started with computers. The ability to share photos, opinions, events, etc. in real-time has transformed the way we live and, also, the way we do business. Retailers who use social media as an integral part of their marketing strategy usually see good results. For eg. LinkedIn, Google, Wikipedia, Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp etc. There are a few uses and abuses of social media.

Uses

1. Marketing of business and promotion of products and brands.
2. Students and teachers can use social media to communicate effectively
3. Sharing of productive content to build stronger communities.
4. Useful for news media, government, data analysis experts, and digital marketing experts.
5. Healthy conversations which people like and enjoy by sharing personal and professional activities with a wide variety of people, groups, and communities.

Abuses

1. Personal information is open for public and its easily hacked.
2. Cyberbullying becomes very easy.
3. Fake accounts and hidden identities create confusions.
4. Hate speech and threatening messages.
5. Initiates cybercrimes.

People especially children are advised to stay safe online and do not indulge in illegal activities through social media.
